Action Plan RAW

Project First Step: Establishing Training Partnerships

Within the first three months, the project will initiate a crucial first step: forging partnerships between local universities and small manufacturing businesses in the Southeast region of Mexico. This step aligns with the broader goal of creating a Distributed Manufacturing Network to address pressing challenges while harnessing regional opportunities.

Actions:

  1. Identifying Partner Universities (Month 1): In the initial month, we will identify and engage with the seven universities in the region that offer technology-related programs, including ITTG, UNACH, UPCHIAPAS, and UTSELVA. This step ensures a pool of potential student participants.

  2. Mapping Manufacturing Hosts (Month 2): Simultaneously, we will revisit the mapped small and informal manufacturing businesses that form 70% of the local manufacturing economy. We will reach out to these potential manufacturing hosts to gauge their interest in participating in the apprentice program.

  3. Forming Partnerships (Month 3): In the third month, we will facilitate meetings and discussions between the identified universities and manufacturing hosts. The goal is to establish formal partnerships that will underpin the apprentice program. These partnerships will outline the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of each party.

Rationale:

This first step is essential as it sets the foundation for the entire project. By aligning universities with local manufacturing businesses, we create a collaborative ecosystem where students gain real-world experience, and manufacturers benefit from skilled labor. This synergy addresses the issue of low new employment opportunities while fostering economic growth.

Immediate Impact:

  1. Skill Development: Students will begin gaining practical skills in digitalized machining practices and quality assurance methods.

  2. Early Engagement: Manufacturing hosts will express commitment to the project, setting a positive tone for future collaboration.

  3. Talent Retention: This step already starts the process of retaining talent within the region, contributing to the project's long-term goals.

This first step is pivotal in catalyzing the project's success, bridging the gap between academia and industry, and marking the beginning of a transformative journey toward social and economic development in the Southeast region of Mexico.
